French and Italian Artillery Breaks German Onslaught. Received this "day at 10.5 a.m. London, December 19. Sir Douglas Ha in- reports: We repulsed raiders southward of Fontaine les Croisilles. Hostile artillery is active of Bulbetween Lens and A'rmentieres, and eastward and northward of Ypres. ... Our aeroplanes on Monday bombed an aerodrome near the Courtrai-ltoulers station, and the Ledigliem and Menin stations. An Italian official message says: The enemy launched attacks from the northeast and north against the Solarolo salient. French and Italian artilleiy Broke up the former. A division of German "jaegers" carried out the latter, which failed after a desperate struggle. . A French communique reports somewhat .intense artillery duelling on the right bank of the Jieuse, especially in the region of Caurieres wood and .Bezonvaux.
