ENORMOUS GERMAN LOSSES.
Italians Holding Fast With the Allies. Enemy iStill Hammering at Alpine Barrier. • [ELKCIiUC TELIKJKAI'H—COPYKIGHT.J /l'Kll I'IIESS ASSOCIATION. J . Received This J>ay, 10.50 a.m. Loudon, Dec. 14lteuter's correspondent at the Italian headquarters slates it is estimated that 150,UU0 AustroGerinans were lost siuce the beginning of the offensive in Treiitiuo. iS'evex-theless the enemy is renewing the attack. Apparently Heotzendroll' and von Buelow are determined to pas;; the Alpine bulwark before the severe winter sets in. The Italian sconts have ascertained that the enemy has concentrated 2,500 guns on loss than a ten mile front between the lifenta and the Piave. Judging by the present action the enemy has reverted to the original idea that entry to the plains is only possible by the capture of Monte Grappa Pass. Hitherto they have encountered redoubtable resistance and whole battalions of Italians allow them-' selves to be destroyed in preference to yielding, now that their Anglo-French Allies arc beside and behind the Italians. Their intervention is giving well deserved rest and breathing space to the Italians, who endured the unparallelled strain of live weeks unremitting fighting.
