PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Leu.n Presbyterian Sunday School brought its Anniversary celebrations to a successful conclusion on Tuesday evening. The children assembled for the customary tea at 5 p.m. A liberal supply of sandwiches and cakes of every variety had been supplied l by parents and friends and these were done fui'i justice ;';o by tlia-e present. At 7.30 p.m. a move was made into the Church building where tho annual reports and addresses were given and rcwaird books distributed to those who iiad succeeded en gaining -them as the result of their year's work.

■ The Rev Mr Harris confined his remarks in the main ;io the Sun-day Scrool teachers, emphasising the importance of their duties and offering encouragement far the year entered upon.

Rev. G. B. Stephenson also spoke, referring to tlio children as being important agencies in the- Church, as it was upon them the 'Church depended for its future. Mr Stephenson also referred briefly to his projected depa rturo from Levin and hoped his association with tho Ministers of oho other denominations in Dannefirke would bo found' as congenial to liiin a-' those he was leaving behind.

A much appreciated item on >'-he programme was the duet "liicd by Mrs Eggelton and. Mrs .las. Stevenson, which was very pleasingly rendered Miss Leone Hughes sang very sweet, lv "Just a Tittle Pansy. The recitation compotitfons evoked cotnl-idorabla interest. The contestants had been allowed to select their own pieces and owing to the variety of these the judges (Messrs K. Aitken and W, Thomson) founcl their task no sinecure. At the conclcsion of 'bhe competition,® Mr Aitken announced the following as prize winners: — Ages 8 to 10: Edna Hughes Ist. Ages 10 to 13 : Alberta Young 1, May Keys 2. Harvev Thomson 3, -(special prize). Ages 13 to I<>: Ivy Middleiniss 1, Jack Key.-' % PRIZE LISE.
