Nell, was found drowned in a lake in Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, yesterday morning. She had been in illhealth for some time and had left a private hospital only three days ago. Particulars of the tonnage and en-gine-power of the 14 wooden vessels which are being built in the United States to the order of the Australian Government were given last week by the Prime Minister. Mr Hughes said that four of the vessels v. ill be equipped with oil engines, and 10 would be steamships. In no respcct could the vessels be described as auxiliary power steamers. Their engines were to be 1 capable of developing a sea speed of 9or 10 knots an hour. Their dead weight tonnage would be 3300 each, and they were being specially constructed for wheat carrying.
