The Eleventh German Division, composed of hardy Breslau battalions, was ordered to hold on at all costs. Many surrendered, more ran away, none held tlieir ground. Tho Canadians advanced over 2000 yards in twenty minutes. When the Germans sought toily down the slopes the Canadians brought their Lewis guns up and killed the fugitives Our airmen were masters of tlie sky and swarmed above tho German lines. Tho few enemy aeroplanes wero quickly driven off.
