HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. Wellington, Oct. 29. Following is the High Commissioner's cabled market report:— Meat.—There arc large supplies of home-killed beef, which are selling at 10} d and 12Jd. Home-killed mutton, in small supply, 13d. No frozen meat has been released by order of the Government during this week. Now Zealand mutton and lamb: No supplies available and no quotations. Argentine mutton ll%d, lamb Hid; I'atagonian lOd. all in small supply. Argentine chilled beef, hinds Hid, fores 9id.
Butter. —All kinds of butter are in small supply and in active demand. Following are the maximum prices fixed: Salted Paris, 256s 8d; New Zealand and Canadian, 2245; American, Argentine, and Australian unsalted butter, 3s more in caeli case. The cheese market continues firm. New Zealand States, Flats, Australian, and Canadian, at Government price. English cheddar, 1375, but holders are not anxious to sell in view of higher prices to take effect on and after November 1. Hemp.—Manila and New Zealand markets remain as last reported. Manila: The arrival is reported of 25,000 bales, for which no rise will occur unless (code word for this was mutilated). New Zealand offerings are very small and readily absorbed.
