LEVIN TENNIS CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Levin Lawn Tennis Club was held on Thursday evening. Mr H. E. Porter presided, and there was a very good attendance of merpbers.

Tbe secretary, Mr D. Wallace, read the annual report and balance sheet. The report stated that the past season had been a satisfactory one, and although the membership had suffered through many of the older members going to the war, and many of those left having increased business burdens to carry, there had been a considerable number of young people joining, and the sport has been well maintained. The balance sheet showed a credit of £3 14s iod, and during the season the Club had bought and paid for two nets, besides meeting other current expenditure. The incoming committee was recommended to give attention to the fences round the courts, and new posts for the nets are required. The thanks of the Club were due to the ladies who provided tea during the season.

The election of officers resulted as follows : — President, Mr C. Blenkhorn; v.-presidents, Messrs W. Hughes and H. H. Cork ; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr D. Wallace (re-elected); committee, Miss I. Pink, M. Malcolm, Mrs Gardener, and Messrs H. E. Porter, R. Pringle, and G. W. Heslop. It was decided that subscriptions be 15s for men, and 7s6dfor ladies, and that these be paid by December 31.

It was decided that a working bee of members be held to-day at the courts, and that November 10 be the opening day, neighbouring Clubs being invited to be present. The following new members were elected : —Mr and Mrs Stephenson, Mr and Mrs Jones, Misses McCarthy, Tully, Nash (2), Shute, Hutchinson, Eyes, Wetherall, and Reading, Messrs W Williams, Bennett, Gray, La Roche, Elliott, Bates, Wright, Tripe, and Taylor. A very cordial vote of thanks was passed to the hon. secretary, Mr Wallace, for his enthusiasm in the interests of the Club, and the meeting then adjourned.
