ROLL OF HONOUR.
PRIVATE FRED HASTE. Advice was received in Levin today of the death in actiou of Private Fred Haste, brother of Miss Haste, librarian, and before his enlistment a well-known and highly-respected resident of Levin. Private Haste was a member of the firm rf Pringle and Haste, builders, and his fiue character made him generally respected. He was a prominent worker i" the local Y.M.C.A. and a valued member of the Methodist Church. Private Haste was one of the first business men of Levin to enlist, leaving with the Fighting Fifths. He saw service on Gallipoli and then went on to France where he passed unscathed through all the heavy fighting on the Somme and in Flanders although his position in the machine-gun 3Qfftioa exposed him to great danger. Much sympathy will be extended to Miss Haste and her parents, who reside in Wellington, in their bereavement. ■PXIOUMW
