PALMERSTON NORTH SHOW.
ENTRIES AHEAD OF LAST YEAR It is surprising how the entries tor this Show keep up, despite the very severe shortage of labour which is felt all round. Entries have finally closed, and the secretary informs us that the grand total is ahead of last year. As is always the case, some of the sections are slacker than last year, and others, again, are fuller, so that the average is more than maintained this year. Sheep are somewhat neglected, though a fine showing will be penned. Cattle are again strong, as are competitions, also horses. Dogs and all other subsidiary divisions are very much as usual, with the exception of the schools, which have greatly increased owing to a thorough re-drafting of the schedule. All preparations are now well forward, and the necessary requisite now to ensure another of those remarkably successful Shows for which Palmerston North is famous, is fine weather.
