SERVICE OF SONG.

At the Presbyterian Church on Thursday evening there was a large'attendance to hear the Service of Song ":Eva " rendered by the choir, under the baton of Mr Keys. The story is based on "Uncle Tom's Cabin," and provides ari' interesting and musical work, with possibilities that were fully taken advantage; of by the choir. The connective readings were' sympathetically rendered by Rev. Bowden Harris. Miss Mona Murray sang the solo, and .Misses Murray and.^Blackburn the duet. . The last, reading the touching, story Was given to the accompaniment of the Dead March, played from another part of the building by Mrs Bould. - Miss Williamson presided at the organ, and' the accompaniments were played by. Mrs Bould. Added to the service of ,sorig' w ere a number of items which add.ed greatly to the evening's pleasure. Mr W. Thomson delighted his hearers with Scotch 1 recitations; Master J. Key s gave a .very'creditable rendering of " The Old Boys Mrs . Eggleton's singing of " Hear My Beloved " was much, appreciated, as was also the duet given by Mesdames Eggleton and Stevenson. Mr Mottershead was 'in fine voice, and his singing of " My Old Kentucky Home " Was a rare treat. Altogether a most pleasant and profitable evening was spent, and the Sunday School funds will benefit materially. Special thanks are due to Mr Keys for the time and trouble taken in preparing the service of song, and to the choir for their loyal assistance.
