A SATISFACTORY FOUR iDfAYSi'' EIUN. (Taranaki Herald) After running! continucuislly t3in,e[e Sunday the directors of the smelting company at Moturoa decided last night to cool down the furnace temporarily, and to take steps to make adjustments to the plant, and start operations later with the bigger furnace. Every two or three hours pi'g iron to tilio amount of ten cwt. was run off. The bigger furnace has a capacity of some Jtwenty 'tons a, day. To deal ■tfith this output .considerably, mjbirfe) coal is required. On Monday a shipment of 300 tons is expected. The men, whoi, of course, are new to the work, a gradually being hrokem in. and it is anticipated that whbnt the furnace restarts the work of smelting will proceed smoothly.
AJH concerned are much gratified with the results so far obtained, and are hopeful that whom the necessary alterations and adjustments are made the plant will Commence pig iron production on a commercial safe.
