•UMUSTMAS GIFT PARCEL APPEAL. From Mrs Crawford, the secretary of tho Wellington Branch of the Countess of Liverpool Fund, Mrs P. W. Goldsmith has received a communication thanking her for the promised contribution of £25 to tho Christmas Gift Parcel Fund, from Levin. At the same time, M'* Crawford has forwarded K)0 of the labels which go round the plum pudding- . and on whicii wtil aijear nn intimation that the pudding enclosed is a gift from the Levin people. A& well as the labels mentioned, a. hundred prist cards, also were received, each of which bears a message asking the recipient of the parcel to sign the card with name, rank, company, etc., and return to the Mayoress' Committee, Town Hall,, Wellington, New Zealand. Mrs Crawford's letter mentions that the value of the parcels is estimated at os each, and they will contain 1 plum pudding, 'I tin sweets, I tin meat, 1 tin milk, 1 tin jam (raspberry, apricot or peach), or 1 tin cheese; also 1. tin tobacco or cig retfces, 1 towel, 1 pair socks w a hindkerchief. , The parcel for E;svpt cop tains as well 1 tin ?h>aitl.read or of gingerbread. In connection with the raising of the necessary funds for these Christmas parcels, las well as the regular ninthly parcels, the local ladies' 'Red Gross Committee has decided to have several special shop days at the Red Cross Shop. Next Saturday, 11th instant, the shop will he in charge of Miesdames B. R. Gardener and *R. Stansell ,and it is hoped that everyone will help with donations of saleable goods. An extra day will be held on tho following Tuesday, the 14th, when Mesdamcs N. Kirkcaldie and P. R. Wright will take charge. As this will he the farmers' livestock sale day, it is hoped that the farming commun't.v will note the fact and send along whatever they enn in the way of ooultry, vegetables, etc.
