It's in everyone's mouth just now —in both senses of the words. Yes! Poodstuffs are beyond doubt andlikely to do so while the war lasts. Meat is about Is per lb; well, the best remedy is to eat less meat and. more vegetables. New Zealanders and Australians probably eat more meat per head than almost any nation on earth, possibly because 20 years ago you could buy a sheep for 2s 6d. You can't now. You can produce your own vegetables by simply spending a few shillings in seeds and your spare time. It's al>out the healthier exencistef of all, too—ask your doctor. Most* vegetables can be grown where produced at less than Id per lb, so you can count up what you save. Besides they will be fresher and better flavor. Most people and practically all hotels serve too much meat and not nearly enough vegetables, and these are often badly cooked. That's wasteful. It's the duty of every man and woman to produce the maximum amount of something useful. It's quite easy for everyone to garden successfully, but you must sow the best seeds that are to be hand.
