The Nationalist bunch of candidates for election to the Senate continues to maintain a lead in Queensland. In all other States the Nationalists bunches appear safe, though there still are a good many absentee votes_ and the whole of the soldiers' votes to reckon with. For the House, Webster s return is assured, that of Messrs Glynn and Mahon still is in doubt. O'Malley iras defeated in Da (Tais'mania, but another election will be necessary here, owing to Howroyd's death. 'NEW ZEALAND'S WHEAT PURCHASE. Melbourne, May 13. The Government is considering the> Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald's offer to pui\'hi = e 2 000,000 bushels of wheat for New Zealand.
