The Chronicle LEVIN. TUESDAY, APRIL 24, 1917. BOROUGH COUNCIL ELECTION.

i.'viu tomon'ow, will have die biennial duty of electing a new i ouneil. A record largest number of candidates is forward—namely, seventeen —being one in exec ess of the nominations made when Levin was firs'd made a municipality. There are nine i vacancies to be filled; consequently there will he eight unsecccssful aspirants to office. It is a change for i.evin to have this multiplicity -of candidates; the necevsnry practice during the last four years has been to ''boat up" the- main street so as to i'void tin disgrace of having insufficient nominations made to fill the vacant offices. The seventeen candidates and ■lie burgesses as a whole are to be congratulated upon tho recrudescencc of public interest in matters municipal; ;',nd whether each individual aspirant i') office meets with success or otherwisel, he will be deserving of the thanks t r the community for having volunteered his services for the honorary ;:tid truly [honorable toffies of 'councillor. All sections of the community have their representation in one or ,'inrn of the candidates; and, without ;_'ning into detail, The Chronicle would i dvise burgesses to endeavour to secure fho return of nine members representative of the various interests in the r(immunity : trades as well as professions, 'business as well as primary producer. A council that represents only one or two sections of the community I n less likely to give general satisfaction than is a council of diversified individual interests.
