Attempt to wreck a Royal rain in Spain
Madrid, Jan. 28. It is reported that an attempt has made to wreck a train by which King Alfonso was travelling near G1 anada, a metal beam having been placed across the rails. Fortunately it was discovered and removed in good time. Later.—Telegrams from jGranada. state that, following upon the attempt to wreck the Royal train, the police raided several houses in that city and arrested a young man who had been living abroad and who speaks French and English with ease. In his possess-, ion was found a letter dated fiom Barcelona, but its contents were unintelli- | gible. At a steep gradient on the line a piece of lead weighting .about a hundredwiglit had been placed. It was ifound about an hour before the time fixed for the passage of the Royal train by a slow passenger train, which was stopped just in time to prevent an accident. Oloe to the line was found a similar piece of lead. TJie local authorities have been in telephonic communication with the Government and several arrests are imminent. — Reuter.
