Bowling by Gaslight

♦-- THE LEVIN CLUB'S TOURNEY

A bowling tournament by gaslight will be played in Levin to-morrow evening (Wednesday) and Thursday evening next. The whole of the net proceeds will be given in equal proportions to two patriotic institutions; namely, the Horowhenua County Fund, and the Levin Branch of the Red Cross Society. The Levin bowling green is to be specially well lit for the games, and there will be programs of instrumental music played on the lawn each evening. The games will be started at 7 p.m. The rinks have been drawn as follow: — Dean, Smith, Brown, Pollock (s). Young, Matheson, Heading, Fyke (s). Holdaway , Macintosh, Thomson, Porteous (s). Channinge, Bull, Lancaster, Currie .(s). Ingram, Aplin, Roe, Palmer (e). The following is the drawing of the games for Wednesday and Thursday: Wednesday Xight. First Round starts at 7 p.m. Rink I.—Pollock v. Pyke. Kiink 2.—Porteous v. Currie. Rink 3.—Palmer v. Shannon team. Second Round starts at 9 p.m. Rink I.—Porteous v. Shannon team Rink 2.— Pyke v. Palmer Rink 3.—Pollock v. Currie. Thursday Night. Third Round starts at 7 p.m. Rink I.—Porteous v. Palmer. Rink 2.—Pollock v. Shannon team. Rink 3.—Pyke.v. Currie. Fourth round starts at i) p.m. Rink I.—Pyke v. Shannon team. Rink 2.—Currie v. Palmer. Riink 3.—Pollock v. Porteous. Levin Brass Band is making big efforts to -have a full turn out at the bowling green to-morrow evening and on Thursday. Mr Ken Aitken has agreed to bring a patheplvone each evening and give selections on the green, and Mrs Bould's orchestra have a nice program prepared; jso alto-i gether there should be no lack of entertainment for patrons of the tournament. The work of Messrs Mclntyre and Currie on the green has resulted in true, fast playing rinks being read;, for the games, and a trial run of the gaslighting arrangements has given complete satisfaction.
