Social Evening at Arrowtown

A most enjoyable social evening was held in the bowling pavilion on Wednesday evening, when neighbours and friends of Mr and Mrs D. Rowe and Mr S. Paterson (who has recently sold Coronet Peak station) took the opportunity to express their appreciation and friendship. Mr Hugh McLean presided. Mr McNicol, of Mount Oram station, in presenting a framed picture of Coronet Peak homestead to Mr and Mrs Rowe, spoke in high terms of their sterling qualities as neighbours and citizens.

Mr T. Robertson made a presentation of a shaving outfit to Mr S. Paterson and wished him all the best for the future.

Mr Rowe and Mr Paterson suitably replied. Other speakers were Messrs W. McDonald, V. Gerkin, L. Small, H. Dagg, R. Cotton, W. H. Thompson, and R. Lovett. Apologies were received from Messrs D. H. Cockburn, O. Greenslade, W. McLean, and all his friends from Skippers.

Cards and community singing were the order of the evening, Mr E. Henderson officiating at the piano. A solo by Mr W. Turner was greatly appreciated.

Musical honours to the guests terminated an evening which was enjoyed by all.
