Wreaths Stolen from Soldiers’ Memorial

Thieves on the night of Anzac Day or early on the Monday morning removed all the wreaths which had been placed on the soldiers’ memorial at Queenstown. The case is in the hands of the police, who are making investigations.

It is almost inconceivable that any adult could be so despicable as to remove or steal emblems carefully prepared as a token of remembrance to those who sacrificed their lives in our cause. It is not likely that children would remove them at that hour of the night and it is likely that they would leave traces if they did. It is hoped that the perpetrators will be brought to book and severely punished.
