Australian Returned Servicemen at Queenstown
More than 60 returned servicemen and home servicemen attended an evening at the Ambassadors Tea Rooms, Queenstown, last Thursday, to entertain the visiting Australian returned . servicemen who are touring New Zealand. The function was arranged by the Queenstown branch of the Returned Services’ Association.
Eleven of the visitors, accompanied by Mr Wilkie, of the Dunedin branch of the R.S.A., were at Queenstown. Undoubtedly, they said, a flight over Queenstown which was arranged by the Queenstown R.S.A., was the highlight of their trip. They were greatly impressed by the local scenery.
The evening was an outstanding suecess, and was interspersed with items the visitors and local residents. Toasts were: —“ The King and Fallen Comrades,” Mr A. Inglis; “Australian -Returned League,” Mr Orr, Invercargill E.S.A.—reply by Mr • Morton, Melbourne; “ New Zealand R.S.A.”, Mr Roberts, Queensland —reply by Mr F. Lucas.
Musical items given by Mr E. R Hopwood were greatly appreciated.
