UPPER CLUTHA BRANCH FEDERATED FARMERS
The annual meeting of the Upper Clutha branch of the Federated Farmers was held at Luggate on April 1.
The following office-bearers were elected for the ensuing year; — Chairman: Mr G. L. Burdon.
Vice-presidents: Messrs W. <J. Rowley and H. L. Stokes. Secretary: Mr V. J. Davidson. Auditor: Mr S. D. Jenkins. Committee: Messrs J. S. Hunt, E. W. Blair, L. R. Morris, and T. J. Allisen. Delegates to Provincial Conference: Messrs J. S. Hunt and E. Stokes. Delegate to Provincial Executive: Mr G. L. Burdon.
Primary Producers’ Co-operative Society Branch Supervisors: Messrs J. Hunt, J. R. Parcell, A. T, Allison, J. L. Lethbridge, S. A. Kane, G. L. Burdon, C. Gawn and G. L. Morris.
The secretary was instructed to request the attendance of Mr W. A. Bodkin, M.P., at the South Island Publicity Association’s Conference, which is to be held early this autumn.
A letter was received from the Lake County Council requesting views on the small bird menace. The meeting decided to ask both the Lake and Vincent County Councils to pay a bounty on eggs and heads and to supply poisoned grain.
A letter from the Transport Department, Dunedin, in reply to a previous letter from this branch asking for a reduction in New Zealand Railroad Services bus fares, was read..
After some discussion it was decided that the committee should go into the matter and obtain further information from the department.
