Queenstown Borough Council Monthly Meeting
There was a full attendance of councillors at the monthly meeting of the Queenstown Borough Council held last Thursday night. Before commencing the business, a motion of condolence was passed concerning the recent death of Judge Acheson. He was Mayor of Riverton and had visited Queenstown several times as chairman of the Southland Regional Planning Council. The librarian’s report showed that £4 9s 7d had been collected in fees and fines during March. Cr Inglis said that he hoped that,.a ? librarian would be starting within . few weeks. The district Building Controller, Dunedin, advised that approval has been given for the erection of 10 huts in the borough camping ground. The council is to make inquiries concerning the purchase of three-inch pipe. It is proposed to use 75 yards to install fire plugs on the new recreation ground so that the brigade may practise there. “What shall we do with the old fire engine?” said Cr Nelson, “ Start a museum,” said the Mayor.
