Farewell Social at Gibbston

A pleasant evening was spent in the Gibbston Schoolroom last week. The occasion being to bid farewell to Miss Esme Cowan, who 'is to be married and is leaving the district. Miss Cowan has been teacher of the Gibbston School for the past seven years, and has been secretary of the Gibbston Tennis Club for many years. During an interval Mr C. R. Scott handed Miss Cowan an envelope from the residents of Gibbston, and with it went their very best wishes for the future and they hoped she would buy something suitable for her new home. Mr H. Perriam made a presentation on behalf of the School Committee and wished Miss Cowan long life and happiness in her married life. Mr L. Cowan replied on behalf of his sister. A bounteous supper was supplied by the Gibbston ladies and Mrs L. Murphy supplied the music for the dance. Mr E. Johnston was the M.C.
