Bring and Buy Sale Held at Wanaka

The annual bring-and-buy sale of St. Columba’s Anglican Church was held in the Wanaka Hall on the evening of Friday, April 2. There was a good attendance and the various competitions were well patronised, while the many helpers on the cake and produce stalls and tea rooms had a busy evening, and goods met with a ready sale. The amount of £IOO was realised. Members of the Luggate Anglican Church also had a stall and enjoyed a successful evening. BAZAAR FANCY DRESS RESULTS The following is the result of the judging of the fancy dress costumes for the Wanaka School children, which was held in conjunction with the bring-and-buy sale: Girls’ Best Costume Joan Halliday (Crinoline) 1, Anne Barton (Fairy Queen) 2. Boys’ Best Costume Mark Davis (Highwayman) 1, Brian Halliday (Sailor) 2. Most Original Costume Valerie Norman (Rainbow Girl) 1, Neil Norman (Indian Boy) 2. Wanaka School Tennis Championships In the finals for Mrs W. Scaife’s trophy Gordon McLeod defeated John Galloway and Nancy Halliday defeated Alice Robertson.
