Regatta Draws Large Crowd to Queenstown

The Queenstown Regatta, held last Saturday, once again proved its popularity as the major Easter sporting event of the district, by the many spectators, who showed keen interest in each event and entries, too, were greater than last year.

The weather was fine in the morning and events were run off to time. At about the ninth event, however, the sun disappeared and a slight wind came up. It was fortunate that it did not affect the lake to any great extent. The regatta was followed by a presentation dance in the Garrison Hall at night. Regatta results were: — Senior Double Sculls. —Otago (L. Newton, K. Collins) 1, North End 2. Won by three lengths. Youths’ Fours (John Mackenzie Cup).— North End (N. Wilson, R. McLaughlan, I. Hislop, R. Moore) 1, Awarua 2, Queen’s Drive 3. Won by three lengths, three feet. Maiden Double Sculls.—North End (J. Donn, D. Fletcher) 1, Otago No. 2 2, Port Chalmers 3. Won by three lengths, one length. Edmond Shield.—Otago (K. Collins str., D. Calder, N. Glengarry, A. Macßae, D. Conner, J. Wheeler, J. Donn, H. Robertson) 1, Southland (L. Morrison, N. Johnson, H.
