Clearance Sale Draws Crowd
In spite of cold and wet weather, crowds waited eagerly for the doors to open at A. H. Wheatley’s annual clearance sale last Friday. Both men and women strove for the front position as the opening time drew near, so that they would have first choice of the bargains —and bargains they were. Within an hour there was little left in the windows which had displayed the goods at half-price and less. However, the crowd was fairly orderly in spite of its enthusiasm and no casualties are reported.
