Fire at Cromwell
Last Thursday night, March 11, at about !) o’clock a fire broke out in the residence of Mr \\ in. Partridge, Cromwell. The brigade was very quickly assembled at the scene of lire and soon had the fire extinguished. Once again Jhe trailer pump proved its worth as a unit of the brigade, and without this machine to step up the pressure the fire might not have been brought under control in such a short time. It is understood that Mr Partridge is a heavy loser. UPPER WAKATIPU PROGRESS LEAGUE The monthly meeting of the tipper Wakatipu Progress League was held ( yi Saturday night at Glenorchy, Mr \A'. It. Hume being in the chair.
Cromwell Council Meeting After being in session for nearly :tn hour Inst Thursday night, March 11, the monthly meeting of flu* Cromwell Borough Council was interrupted by a fire call. As several members of the council were members of the Cromwell Volunteer Fire Brigade, the meeting had to be adjourned to the following week.
