Gold Scales of Arrow Gold Rush Presented To Arrow Museum
The original gold scales used at the Arrow-town Courthouse in the first days of the gold rush in that district, and presented to the Lake County Council by Mr James Hamilton in HKiu, are to be presented to the Arrowtown Progressive League to place in the museum which they are establishing. This was the decision of the council at their meeting last week. The chairman, Mr Cockburn, said the league was to be congratulated on their move to establish a museum. It was unfortunate, he said, that no move was afoot in Queenstown for establishing a similar museum.
