WEATHER
ARROWTOWN The long spell of dry weather was broken on Sunday last, when heavy rain fell. Again on Tuesday and Thursday very heavy rain was the order. The river and creeks rose rapidly and in consequence the Golden Arrow Hydraulic Claim is able to recommence operations. QUEENSTOWN Changeable weather was experienced throughout the week. Rain fell earlier in the week and was followed by cold days and nights. The Remarkables were topped with .snow. The week-end was much improved with bright sunshine and cooler nights. CROMWELL Temperatures in and about Cromwell have been very mild over the past week, rain falling on Sunday night and Tuesday morning, and snow falling on the higher levels. A slight frost was experienced on Tuesday night but not severe enough to do any damage to the late crops. Conditions over the week-end were tine and sunny. GLENORCHY Heavy rain fell during the past few days, the weather being cold,- with light snow on the tops.
