Fronr the Files of the Wakatip Mail At a public meeting hurriedly convened by the bellman it was resolved that it was desirable v» have a lifeboat on the Lake in consequence of the frequency of accidents, and that subscriptions be invited towards the object. APRIL, 1868: An information was laid against William Shore in the Magistrate’s Court for having feloniously stolen, on the 6th instant, firewood valued at 2s 6d, the property of William McLaren. The Bench said they were bound to make an example in the present instance, as the system of paltry thefts and stealing firewood was becoming rife. A verdict of seven days’ imprisonment with hard labour •was given. .
