Queenstown Beautifying Society

A short meeting of the Queenstown Beautifying Society was held last Thursday. Mr L. C. N. Wilder, president, occupied the chair. The main business was to hear a report on the recent garden competition. The president told the meeting that the judge, Mr Borrie, of Mosgiel, was impressed with the efforts made by many of the householders but he was somewhat critical of some of the town environs. It was decided to ask Mr Borrie to give a written report. It was decided to donate a miniature cup annually to the winner of the Yates Cup for the best garden and also to present a miniature shield annually to the winner of the best kept street frontage which in the first competition was Mr J. Downey. It was reported that prizes would be awarded in the school garden competition.
