Unbeaten Over Hurdles Wee Mac, who will be at a short price in the Early Settlers’ Handicap Hurdles at Wingatui to-morrow, has yet to be beaten at this department of the game. That he is in good racing shape was amply demonstrated at the recent Greymouth meeting where he gained a first and a second out of two starts on the flat. Favoured Light-weight Sir Garnish, who has had four wins and a second in his last five starts, is sure to be well supported in the richly endowed Centennial Cup at Wingatui to-morrow. Trained at Invercargill by T. E. Pankhurst, Sir Garnish finished second to Sea Power over a mile and a-half on the first day at Gore and appeared to be rather unlucky not to have won. He made amends, however, on the second day when, with 7.13, he won the Waikaka Handicap, of one mile and a-half. Among those who finished behind him were Detain, Fine Night, Grill and Pride of Mossburn, all of which are engaged in the Centennial Cup. Riding Fee The jockey who rides the winner of the Centennial Cup will be well rewarded for his services as the winning fee is £lO4. The general opinion expressed in regard to the result of the President’s Handicap seems to be “ What will be second to Excellency? ” North Island Candidate Howe, the top-weight in the Centennial Cup, is reported t.o have been working brilliantly at Riccarton prior to his departure for Wingatui.
