Racing is part and parcel of the national life, is more thoroughly organised, and attracts more devotees than all other forms of spurt combined. Breeding for racing purposes has therefore become an industry in a class by itself. Stud farms flourish in every part of the country, and thousands of pounds annually change hands at sales which attract buyers from tnaby points outside the country. A prominent stud farm flourishes only 30 miles from Cromwell, and has bred some notable horses in racing to-day, two being Royal Tan and Bruce. Such notable climatic Conditions; it is claimed, hare proved ideal for thoroughbreds and rearing of stud stock. Racing at Cromwell is therefore appreciated by owners as being" as good as A tonic for horses.
