PROMINENT OWNERS AND RIDERS
Owner* and rider* who religiously attended Cromwell'* race meetings and who are prominent in priae Hats of the club ore too numerou* to remember, but some who can bo recalled are George Pertridge, H. Grey, J. Beal, A. E. Ellis, the Eastwards, D. P. Wilson, Jack McCoon, and Stewart Waddell. It was the work of such men as these that built the Cromwell races to such a standard that to-day it has become throughout the district more than a mere annual racing fixture, but an institution as peculiar to the district as the Auckland Cup is to New Zealand.
