ARROWTOWN SCHOOL COMMITTEE
The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Thursday evening. Those present were:—Mr Ogilvie, acting chairman; Messrs W. Given, B. J. Fletcher and Mrs Ritchie, hon secretary. Before commencing business Mr Ogilvie referred to the loss the committee sustained in the passing of Mr Elliot the late chairman. Mr Elliot had always taken a keen interest in school activities and his loss was a severe one, both to the school children and the committee. As a mark of respect those present stood in silence. It was resolved that the Education Board be asked to call for fresh tenders for the erection of the new residence, on the plan and specifications formerly approved. Mrs P. McKenzie has forwarded a copy of her book (“The Sparkling Waters of Wakatipua ”)to the school and it was resolved that a letter of thanks be forwarded to her for her generous donation to the school library. Accounts amounting to £lB 4s lOd were passed for payment.
