OBITUARY

ME GEO. REID Mr George Reid whose death occurred at Dunedin on February 3, spent the greatest part of his life in the Wakatipu district. Coming to Queenstowfii with his parents in the eighties, he received some of his education here and did duty as a pupil teacher in the Public School. The deceased left for Glenorchy early in this century and took a leading part in the ScheeLte industry being associated primarily with the Mt. Judah mine. The success of the industry was largely due to him. During his long sojourn in Glenorchy the late Mr Reid took a prominent part in local affairs and was a member of the Greenstone riding and the Lake County Council for over 10 years. He is survived by his widow and two sons, Mr A. Reid (New Caledonia) and Mr J. E. Reid. Other relatives are Mr Jas. A. Reid (Glenorchy), Mrs A. Reid (Invercargill).
