Upper Clutha Branch Federated Farmers

A meeting of the Upper Clutha branch of Federated Farmers was held at Luggate on January 22. The meeting was well attended, local stock agents being present. The meeting was in favour of the new rail and road subsidy on lime, and also supported the Cromwell branch’s motion urging for a daily mail service for the Upper Clutha district. It was agreed that a veterinary school was urgently required in New Zealand, and the secretary was instructed to inform the Otago executive accordingly. Mr J. S. Hunt then gave further information regarding the Primary Producers’ Co-operative Society and its function in respect to the Meat Pool. A vote of thanks was moved to Mr Hunt for his sterling work in the formation of the Meat Pool.
