CRICKET

Cromwell cricket team visited Wanaka on Sunday, January 25, to play a match against the local players. The game was a close and interesting one, as, with 20 minutes to go, Wanaka required approximately 20 runs. L. Robertson, as tenth man, saved the situation for Wanaka by making 30 runs, mainly in 6’s and 4’s, and Wanaka won the game by 25 runs. Best batsmen for Wanaka were J. Trevathan 48, D. Trevathan 33, L. Robertson, 30, P, Jackson 22, and for Cromwell M. Partridge (retired) GB, Murray 19, Robinson 19, and Wishart 18. Best bowlers for Wanaka were W. Ironside and for Cromwell M. Partridge.
