OBITUARY

MR J. W. SMITH The death occurred suddenly at Wanaka on Friday evening of Mr J. W. Smith, a well-known Invercargill business man. Although his home was in Invercargill, the deceased spent several months of the year in his Wanaka residence, and during the fishing season derived great enjoyment from the fishing trips he made in his launch. Although not an active member, the deceased was a keen supporter of the bowling green and as a mark of respect the flag at the green was flown at half-mast on Saturday afternoon.
