ANNUAL TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The Wanaka Tennis Club held its annual tournament on New Year’s Day and a large number of entries were reecieved from all over the district. The mixed doubles handicap events were played in. five sections, the section winners being as follows; — Mr R. S. McKenzie and Miss B. Hardy, Mr and Mrs Taylor, Mr A. R. Stevenson and Miss Y. Stevenson, Mr M. C. Paterson and Miss F. McLeod, Mr Purvis and Miss M. Jenkins. In the finals of the post section play Mr R. 8. McKenzie and Miss B. Hardy defeated Mr M. C. Paterson and Miss F. McLeod. At the conclusion of play the president, Mr L. M. Farrant, thanked the visitors for supporting the tournament and when presenting the trophies congratulated the players on the high standard of tennis. Mr C. Stevens and Mr A. Robb acted as joint handicappers.
