WEDDING

McLean—Atley The pretty wedding of Valmai Mary Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Atley, Queenstown, to Alexander Hugh, son of Mr and Mrs J. McLean, of Bcnhar, Southland and formerly of Lake Hayes, was solemnised at S. Peter’s Anglican Church on Saturday, December 13. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a white marquisette embossed gown featuring an Empire style with heart-shaped neck-line and long bishop sleeves. Her embroidered veil was held in place by a coronet of waxed lillies, and she carried a shower bouquet of white roses, sweet peas and asparagus fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Alfrcda Atley, sister of the bride, was dressed in a gown of floral sheer over a pink underdress. She carried a pink satin muff with blue ribbon streamers. Her topnot was made of pink rucked net and blue ribbon. The best man, cousin of the bridgegroom, was Mr Jack Randel, of Dunedin. Mr Bob Atley, brother of the bride, and Mr Arthur Johnson, cousin of tire bridegroom, were ushers. At the reception, which was held in the Parish Hall, over 70 guests attended, Mrs Atley, wearing a frock of navy blue with a shoulder spray of apricot rosebuds, received the guests, assisted by Mrs McLean, who wore a black frock finished by a spray of red-rose buds and matching accessories. The Rev. John H. Cable was the officiating minister and Mrs T. Davidson was the organist. During tho signing of the register a solo “My Prayer ” was sung by Mr Eric Hopwood. ,
