TRANSPORT LICENSING

QUEENSTOWN SITTING No 4 Transport Licensing Authority held a public sitting in the Queenstown Courthouse on Wednesday, last week. The following business was transacted:— The application of James Shaw, Arrowtown, for a goods-service licence was granted with the following amendments: —Additional vehicle authority for grain, lime, wool, livestock and merchandise in the Lake County and the Garrick, Clutha, Hawea and Lindis ridings of Vincent County. A seasonal goods licence of this applicant was revoked. Passenger-service licences were renewed as follows: —Mt. Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Co. Ltd, (a) Queenstown-Skippers, (b) Queenstown round trip, (c) Queenstown-Cromwell; E. H. Bryant, Kinloch, Kinloch-Route-burn Valley; Hon. Minister of Railways, Queenstown-Milford Sound road. The Mt, Cook and Southern Lakes Tourist Company’s application' for renewal of a taxicab service licence was granted. The application of E. J. Glenorchy, for a similar licence was opposed by Glenorchy Motors. After hearing evidence, decision was reserved. An arrangement was subsequently entered into for Glenorchy Motors to buy Kelly’s interest. Decision on the two applications was reserved pending filing of applications for consent to transfer of Kelly’s licence to Glenorchy Motors. J. C. Cockburn, Queenstown, was granted a renewal of his application for rental ear licence.
