GOOD FISHING IN SOUTHERN LAKES ASSURED
Interviewed by a “ Mail ” representative, an official of the Internal Affairs Department stated that fishermen could now look forward to a good season in the Southern Lakes District. Last August the department had liberated 42,000 rainbow fry in dredge holes above Cromwell, and a further 42,000 fry in the Piza swamp. Nearly a million eggs had been liberated last year. Commenting on the lack of good catches up to the present, it was his opinion that this was probably due to the present high levels of the rivers.
