THE QUEENSTOWN AERODROME
Board to Discuss Future with Sir Leonard Isitt Sir Leonard Isitt is to visit Queenstown in February to meet the Frankton (Queenstown) Aerodrome Board and discuss the future of the aerodrome. Advice to this effect was received by the board at its meeting held in the Lake County Council Chambers last Thursday evening. In view of Sir Leonard Isitt’s visit it was agreed that all relevant information and data be amassed to form the basis of representations to be made to have the aerodrome included in the national network of air service feeder lines. In reply to the board’s application, the Air Department advised that the Director of Civil Aviation would issue a licence for a commercial landing field, on the payment of the prescribed fee. It was resolved to forward the fee immediately. The licence will authorise the use of the field for light aircraft up to 30001b gross weight, Beech CI7L, Proctor, Vega Gull, and Waco machines. Mr H. Sew Hoy tendered his resignation as a member of the board, which was accepted with regret. The secretary stated that he would communicate with the Queenstown Borough Council asking that a recommendation be made for a suitable person to fill the vacancy. It was resolved to call tenders for the grazing rights of the aerodrome, subject to the concurrence of the Public Works Department. The secretary was requested to make inquiries in respect to landing fees for the use of .the aerodrome. The meeting was attended by Messrs D. H. Cockburn (chairman), Dr W. A. Anderson (Mayor of Queenstown), Mr E, Thompson (Mayor of Arrowtown), W. H. Thompson, and the secretary (Mr E. R. Hopwood),
