COLOURFUL ROSE SHOW
There was a fair entry of cut flowers but roses predominated, and contributed to a colourful effect at the annual sale of work and rose show held by St. Peter’s Anglican Ladies’ Guild in the Garrison Hall, Queenstown, last Friday. The decorative section was an attractive one as was also the industrial, which embraced exhibits of knitting and sewing. The school section lent much interest to the show. Prize for the best rose bloom was awarded to Mrs. P. Hansen. The guild reports good sales in the various stalls. Winners of raffles were: —Handworked supper cloth, Mrs A. George; crochet dinner wagon covers, Mrs A. Curtis; set hand-worked tea towels, Mrs 0. Greenslade; knitted baby’s layette, Mr W. H. Thompson. The mayor, Dr W. A. Anderson, formally opened the show, and, at the conclusion, the Rev. J. H. Cable, acting vicar, thanked all who had worked: to assure its success. Gross proceeds were close on £IOO.
