JUVENILE CONCERT

EXCEPTIONAL TALENT Exceptional juvenile talent was seen by a highly appreciative audience at a concert in the Athenaeum Hall, Cromwell, last Saturday night. The proceeds,.in aid of the Cromwell Volunteer Fire Brigade, are estimated to be about £4O. The programme, costumes and scenery were arranged by Mrs H. J. Morrell. The highlight of the programme was undoubtedly the “ Toymakers’ Dream ” and few of the audience who admired the model elephants, tigers, lions and other animals in the stage setting, would realise that they were all painted by 11-year-old Owen Forsythe. “Keys of Heaven,” a tableau by Lorna Moffat and Aileen Barrow could not have been more capably performed and the audience fully expressed their appreciation. Other items were: Tableau, “Bubbles,” Bobbie Alexander; pianoforte solo, Kevin Robertson (10 years); sketch, Isla Hoad, Pat Mitchell; tableau, “ Second Minuet,” - Esme Storey; pianoforte duet, Joan Hodson, Donald Jelley; recitation, “Growing Pains,” Nelson Connelly; solo, pianoforte, Joan Hodson; conjurist, Mr Russell; band items —Valda Walker (banjo-mandoline), Esme Storey (xylophone), Iloa Hoad (steel guitar); recitation, Donald Jelley; tableau, “Mountains of Mourne”; pianoforte duet, Isla Hoad, Esme Storey; play, Esme Storey, Valda Walker; pianoforte solo, Donald Jelley; play, “Hat Shop.”
