WANAKA FAREWELL

A large crowd assembled in the Wanaka Hall on Tuesday last week when a dance was held in honour of Mr and Mrs D. H. Anderson, who are leaving Wanaka shortly to reside in Oamaru. Mr D. Anderson who has lived in the district all his life was a driver for New Zealand Road Services. People were present from the outlying districts, as well as from Cromwell. Chairman for the evening was Mr Studholme, who expressed regret at Mr and Mrs Anderson’s departure and wished them every happiness in their new sphere. He then called on Mr Chas. Templeton. who endorsed his remarks and asked the guest of the evening to accept a monetary gift from friends in the district. Mr Anderson replied on behalf of his wife and himself. They were accorded musical honours. The dance closed with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. Music was supplied by McNamara’s Band, Cromwell, and Mr W. Ironside acted as master of ceremonies.
