WOMEN’S BOWLING OPENS

The opening of the Arrowtown Women’s Bowling season took place last Wednesday in glorious sunshine, and with the green in good order. The president, Mrs W. B. Gibb, extended a hearty welcome to everyone. Mrs Gibb called on the Mayoress, Mrs Thompson, to roll the first bowl. Afternoon tea was supplied by the ladies.' The tables were decorated with maroon and gold tulips, the club’s colours. Mr and Mrs lan Cowie were entertained by table tennis club members at a function held at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. Henderson last Wednesday evening. The evening w-as spent in games and competitions. Included among the items given were several solos by Mrs lan Cowie, a duct by Mr and Mrs Cowie, and a quartet by Messrs R. Scott, L. Oakes, V, Hansen and A. Snell. During an interval Mr J. Henderson, the club president, presented Mr and Mrs Cowie with an electric toaster and wished them every happiness in the future. A much enjoyed evening was brought to a close with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. , Supper was supplied by the ladies.
