T.B. TESTING OF DAIRY BULLS
While ho was in agreement with a proposal of the Dairy Section Council of Federated Farmers that all bulls offered for sale for utilisation in dairy herds should be T.B. Tested, he was doubtful whether the present was a suitable time to make any extension of compulsory testing, wrote the Minister of Agriculture to Federated Farmers last week. The proposal would involve an amendment to the stock Act, in which case the . strong support of the various daily bleed associations would appear to lie essential. There was no possibility of bringing down amending legislation during the current sesion of Parliament. The council, in its original proposals provided for the payment of compensation to owners of bulls condemned on the same basis as for herds which were compulsory tested.
