SMALL BIRD MENACE

At a recent meeting of the Lake County Council a request was received from the Upper Wakatipu Federated FFanners to reinstate the bounty on birds’ eggs and heads. In order to obtain the opinion of all farmer ratepayers in the- country, the council decided to communicate with all branches of Federated Farmers in the county. As soon as the replies are received a decision will be made. At a . meeting of the Wakatipu Federated Farmers, held recently, it was resolved “that this branch, realising the seriousness of the small bird menace, strongly recommends the council to reinstate the payment of a bounty on birds’ eggs and heads, starlings to be excluded.’”
